In ensuring maximum enjoyment for racing fans, the Malaysian Super Series has separated the bikes and cars competitions for the upcoming Round 4, which will be held at Sepang Circuit this weekend.

Though all competitors will have their free practice sessions on Friday (July 21), their races and qualifying sessions would be held on separate days with the bikes taking the whole of Saturday (July 22) and the cars taking the track on Sunday (July 23).

“We believe this will provide full enjoyment for the biking fans to spent the entire day at the track on Saturday while those who love cars can come on Sunday. If you like both, then you should come on both days, says Azhar Ghazali, the Press Officer of Sepang International Circuit.

Featuring the best of Malaysian drivers and riders along with top international racers from as far as Australia, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and Singapore, the Malaysian Super Series is effectively Malaysia’s national championship for track racing and is the country’s premier motor racing series.

Azhar said the new format was also decided in view of the increasing number of events within the Malaysian Super Series and that it would be unrealistic to allow the event to start too early or to finish too late on Sunday as it had done in previous rounds since its inception in 2002.

“We spoke to the competitors as well and they too felt that it was only logical for the events to be separated so that they would not incur higher expenses for the event, said Azhar.

With the new format, tickets would be charged for both days at RM10 on Saturday and on Sunday for entry at the Main Grandstand area.

Competitions for the cars enters its fourth round with every competitor in the Hong Kong Gates Classic Car Series, JPM Integra Cup Malaysia, the Supercar Championship, the Supersaloon Championship, the Supersixteen Championship and the Supercompact Championship competing in two races for the round.

Similarly for the bikers in the open Superbike Championship, 600cc Supersports Championship, the 250cc Aprilia Cup, the 150cc Kawasaki Cup and the 130cc Production Bike Championship would be competing in two compulsory races in deciding the winners for the round.

The bikers, however, would be competing for Round 3 this weekend with its fourth round would be staged as support races at the 2006 Marlboro Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix, to be held at Sepang Circuit from 8th to 10th September.
