Brief of Super GT
Featuring fully modified renowned sports cars from Japan and abroad, the series is currently the most popular racing series in Japan; drawing an average of 50,000 spectators at every round. With the Malaysian round incorporated as one of the championship rounds; offering priceless championship points for the teams and drivers, the event drew full participation from the competing teams, which come to Sepang with their respective sponsors and brigade of GT Queens from Japan.

With an expanded nine-round series, the 2006 AUTOBACS Super GT series opened with its
usual air of excitement and thrills in Suzuka on March 19, unveiling new race machines,
new teams, drivers' line-up, bigger entries and a bold move by the defending Toyota team

The season has started..

With an expanded nine-round series, the 2006 AUTOBACS Super GT series opened with its
usual air of excitement and thrills in Suzuka on March 19, unveiling new race machines,
new teams, drivers' line-up, bigger entries and a bold move by the defending Toyota team.

Last's year's winning Supra machines were replaced by the awesome Lexus SC430, which
looked set to extend the supreme tradition of the Supras. Despite being a first-year
machine, the Lexus SC430 inherited a wealth of know-how from its Supra predecessor will
be further powered by the masterful driving of reigning champs Yuji Tachikawa and
Toranosuke Takagi in their No.1 ZENT Cerumo SC.

Their bid to defend the prestigious crown, however, would not come easy.

current battle!!!

Throughout the season, they can expect another stiff challenge from Satoshi Motoyama and Tsugio Matsuda of Xanavi NISMO Z, which had come so close to winning last year's title.
Then, there is also the ARTA NSX with the dynamic duo of Daisuke Ito and ex-F1 driver Ralph Firman, who returned this season with higher performance machines to boost their title challenge.

Joining them in the quest for Super GT supremacy are a host of other world class drivers
including those who had graced the Formula One World Championship, Le Mans 24-hour
Endurance race and Formula Nippon.

After round 2...

For the fans, these elements naturally pushed the expectation bar higher. And, the 2006
Super GT season would, without doubt, be even more thrilling and exciting than before.
After two rounds, the GT 500 class is currently led by the partnership of Ryo Michigami and Takashi Kogure of Team TAKATA DOME NSX, who had collected 38 points.
In the GT300 class, the partnership of Marco Apicella and Yasutaka Hinoi of Team AKTIO MURCIE RG-1 are locked at the top of the standings with the dynamic duo of Shogo Mitsuyama and Nobuteru Taniguchi of Team direxiv ADVAN 320R with 27 points.

it must be HOT in Sepang!!!!

By the time the 2006 series reaches Sepang on 23rd to 25th June, the drivers and teams would have completed three rounds of competition. From the chilly winds and cool
temperatures of Suzuka, Okayama and Fuji Speedway, the Super GT teams and drivers heads to tropical weather and shining sunshine of Sepang.

An entirely different kind of weather that demand new machine set-ups, new strategies,
new approach and loads of energy, stamina and self endurance from the drivers. First
organized at Sepang Circuit 2000 as the Japan GT Festival in Malaysia, the event had
grown to become Sepang's second most popular event after the Formula One Petronas
Malaysian Grand Prix.

SUPER GT ENTERS ROUND 3 IN FUJI SPEEDWAY

Organised in conjunction with Japan’s weeklong Golden Week holidays, the
2006 Super GT Series – Japan’s biggest racing series - enters its third
round at Fuji Speedway this week; promising another big showdown between
the Toyota and the Honda teams at one of Japan’s most popular racing
circuit.

After re-opening last year upon completion of a total makeover, Fuji
Speedway has lost none of its high-speed essence and the Golden Week's
500km race looks set to provide high drama over its entire distance.

Experts believe that the third round in Fuji, where qualifying will be
held tomorrow (Wednesday, 3 May) will be an open-affair with the #1 ZENT
Cerumo SC430 of Yuji Tachikawa and Toranosuke Takagi having a slight
advantage.

The race, where competitors compete in two different categories – the
GT500 and GT300 classes, will be held on Thursday (4 May 2006). The
following Round 4 will be held in Sepang, Malaysia from 23rd to 25 June as
the only round outside Japan.

Having the same power and capability, the identical #36 OPEN INTERFACE
TOM'S SC430 machine has also been named by many as among the top
contenders. Featuring the partnership of Juichi Wakisaka and Portugal’s
Andre Lotterer, the SC430 machine made a sensational debut to win the
opening round in Suzuka.

No.1 ZENT CERUMO SC

The Honda challenge would be spearheaded by the #18 TAKATA DOME NSX with
Ryo Michigami and Takashi Kogure, that came out top of the timesheets at
the recent SUPER GT Official test, held on March 28th and 29th at the
track.

The first phase of the nine-round 2006 Super GT Championship closed in Fuji Speedway yesterday with the partnership Naoki Hattori and Britain’s Peter Dumbreck cruising to victory in the 500-km race in their Toyota Lexus SC430 to win Round 3.

Representing Team BANDAI DIREZZA SC430, Hattori and Dumbreck took charge of the race after the other Lexus SC430 entry of Yuji Tachikawa and Toranosuke Takagi, which started from pole position, lost its lead after encountering mechanical problems
